Living United out in the field / Dominic

This was a busy week for United Way out in the community with visits to some important partners. On Monday, Bill Hanbury, President and CEO of UWNCA, toured DC’s Food and Friends, a local agency that provides meals and groceries to people living with HIV/Aids, and saw first-hand the top notch work they do to help people in need.

Tuesday, Bill attended back-to-back campaign meetings, accompanied by UWNCA’s Les Talley, to thank the folks at PNC Bank and the Washington Post for their continued support over the years. Both companies kick off their campaigns within the next couple of weeks.

And on Thursday, Bill was out in Virginia thanking City Administrator, Jim Hartmann and the City of Alexandria government for their strong sense of “civic responsibility” as they prepared for their annual drive.

Next week we join United Way Worldwide for an NFL/United Way Hometown Huddle event with the Washington Redskins. It will take place in the Washington Ballet studio space. The event will feature a dance competition among select DC Public Schools and will include Washington Redskins Wide Receiver Santana Moss, Washington Ballet Artistic Director Septime Weber, and our own Bill Hanbury, as judges. Stay tuned for a report on this great kids event.
